OUR Amazon “breaks” tradition by revealing for the first time on Saturday the viewing figures for the new Lord of the Rings series, titled “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power“.
The double-episode premiere, which was available in 240 countries on Prime Video, was watched by 25 million viewers worldwide in its first 24 hours.
Amazon’s “Rings of Power” series premiered worldwide on September 1 and 2, depending on the region and time zone of viewers around the world.
But when the popular streaming service announced Ring of Power’s ratings, it didn’t elaborate on how it measures viewership or how long someone watches an episode to be considered a viewer.
So, since Amazon has never released the number of views for a Prime Video series before and only used Nielsen as a system to measure the number of views, it’s hard to know how successful Rings of Power is for the service. On Saturday, Amazon said the series had “broken all previous records, making it the biggest premiere in Prime Video history.”
