The new hysteria of the favorite propagandist of Russian President Vladimir Putin, TV presenter Volodymyr Solovyov, seems to have scared even the guests of the studio.
The latest target of Solovyov’s wrath was Josep Borrell, the head of European diplomacy, after he allegedly called Russia a “fascist” country. A spokesman for the European official later said his words had been mistranslated.
“Look at this fan of his [Francisco] Ex! Therefore, to the successor of the Blue Division, who fought against the Soviet Union and participated in the blockade of Leningrad! Look at that bloated, hideous face!” he exclaims.
It is not clear what connection Solovyov sees between Borrell and Franco, the only thing that unites them is Spanish nationality. While Franco was a right-wing dictator who historians say had overtones of fascism, Borrell was a prominent socialist politician in Spain before entering European politics.
Some of Solovyov’s guests lowered their eyes during his tirade
The Blue Division mentioned by the Russian TV presenter was a unit of Spanish volunteers who enlisted to fight on the Eastern Front against Bolshevism in World War II. Although recruited by the Spanish Armed Forces, the unit was officially staffed by the Wehrmacht, the German army, and Spain maintained a policy of neutrality during the war, despite its ideological proximity to the Axis powers.
The last object of Volodymyr Solovyov’s anger was the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell

“He says ‘no, I just said what the MEP said,'” Soloviev continues his tirade. “But you didn’t fix it, bum! You did not provoke him! 27 million! Some of them are killed by your accomplices! And your compatriots who came to our lands,” he exclaims, referring to the number of Soviet citizens allegedly killed in the war.
“How dare you open your pathetic mouth to connect the words “fascist” and “Russia”? You support the Nazis in Ukraine! You are happy to see the Russians killed! You ask,” he concludes his monologue, which seems to terrify even his guests from the station “Russia-1”.
Soloviev’s new tantrum is reminiscent of one late last month, when he launched a scathing attack on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, comparing him to Nazi dictator and murderer Adolf Hitler.
On August 31, two planes with military ammunition destined for Ukraine took off from Spain as part of the military aid promised to Kyiv by the socialist government in Madrid.
However, in early August, the authorities, led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, announced that the German-made Gepard armored vehicles promised to Ukraine would no longer be delivered due to their “completely unsatisfactory” condition.
