European Newsroom is a joint initiative of dpa (Germany), which is also the project coordinator, AFP (France), ANSA (Italy), AGERPRES (Romania), APA (Austria), ATA (Albania), Belga (Belgium), BTA (Bulgaria) , EFE (Spain), Europa Press (Spain), FENA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), HINA (Croatia), MIA (North Macedonia), STA (Slovenia), Tanjug (Serbia) and TASR (Slovakia). PAP (Poland) and Ukrinform (Ukraine) are added to them, which have the status of partner press agencies, notes Agerpres.

Comfortable Description of the project “it’s about the joint work of European press agencies, in sight and across borders.” “This is not only the idea of creating a newsroom, but also the idea of a united Europe.”

European Newsroom (enr) launched in Brussels on 1 July and aims to promote and strengthen cooperation and exchange between correspondents of participating news agencies. It is a new and unique concept characterized by the exchange of objective and accurate information between and about press agencies in Europe, mutual understanding and diversity. The platform provides agencies with verified facts and access to news and sources other than propaganda and fake news, helping to support quality journalism while countering the growing spread of misinformation.

It is often difficult for individual users to verify the wealth of information available on the Internet, especially when it comes to events in other countries or complex European politics. That is why fact-checking is an integral part of the European Newsroom, which aims to be a center of journalistic quality and integrity at the heart of the EU.

This will be the first pan-European newsroom that will allow journalists to jointly cover EU affairs and promote the spirit of cooperation. Thanks to this new step, we are consolidating the European information space and increasing citizens’ access to quality information,” said European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton on November 29, announcing the initiative.
