Britain’s Ministry of Defense said in an assessment on Sunday that in the war launched by Russia in Ukraine on February 24, Russian forces have “problems with morale and discipline” in addition to fatigue and heavy casualties.
The main gripe among Russian troops is likely to continue to be about the money they receive, including the risk that “significant combat bonuses” will not be paid, according to the latest information on the frontline provided by Britain.
The UK Ministry of Defense also says that “gross corruption” among commanders and an “inefficient military bureaucracy” may also have contributed to these “morale and discipline problems”.
“The Russian military consistently fails to provide the basic rights of troops stationed in Ukraine, including uniforms, proper weapons and rations, as well as money. This almost certainly contributed to the fragile morale of most forces,” the British Ministry of Defense adds.
