In an appeal sent by the mayor’s office of schools and kindergartens in the city of Barladsh, the directors are asked to “quickly” solve this problem:
- “Educational units, in which the basic funding does not cover the expenses for activities, made decisions on the effective implementation of the education system, optimization and streamlining of expenses so that the indicators of the educational process are not affected, namely: reducing the duration of lessons, holding classes in two shifts, heating and illuminate only individual classrooms, conduct classes using an online or mixed system.
- In this regard, please let us know the scenarios you have considered that would lead to the quantitative and cost savings you estimate compared to the same period last year. (…)
- We ask you to take this matter quickly and seriously because the next bills will be due soon and we must demonstrate good management of the crisis we are in.”
PSD deputy Eduard Popika published the document on his Facebook page:
- “The mayor of Barlada, the leader of the municipality with solid traditions in the field of culture and education, is carrying out a coup d’état at the Barlada school, offering the leadership of the educational units to “turn off the lights” and move the educational process to “online” because they have run out of pennies and will have nothing to pay for utilities, given that both the prime minister and the energy minister are allies of his ruling party.
- We have all realized the extent of the losses that schools and education have suffered as a result of the “online school” experiment during the pandemic. The local government should be the first to take on the task of restoring normal life and compensating for the damage caused to the school. (…)
- On behalf of the parents of children from Barlad, I strongly ask you not to bury the Barlad school, which over the centuries has given the country a whole galaxy of personalities in all spheres of activity.”
