Constitution: Assembly of Suspended Medical Workers

Currently, a gathering of medical workers who have been suspended from work is taking place in Syntagma.

As they usually say, “Today marks a year since the health worker suspension measure that deprives hospitals of the services of 7,000 health workers for extended periods of time.”

“The rest in Hospitals, Sanatoriums, EKAV, Welfare, who are constantly decreasing, work in conditions of labor burnout, being in Hospitals day and night with difficulty, they received several days off in the summer and dozens of repositories. are due to each of them. Of course, health authorities should take into account that there should be preparedness and an operational plan for the autumn and winter, when a new outbreak of coronavirus is expected, and at the same time, Hospitals should not once again become one topic, which makes it difficult to access patients with other diseases (for example, surgical operations, chronic treatment, etc.). With such a shortage of staff, the services provided are unreliable. We call on health ministers to submit an amendment in parliament to lift measures to suspend health workers. The system cannot consider a vaccinated colleague who had a single vaccination a year and a half ago and is working correctly under constant preventive control, and an unvaccinated colleague who fell ill six months ago with a large shield in the body from the corona virus (more antibodies) to be suspended and unable to work with constant screening for coronavirus. The vaccine protects against severe disease, so we vaccinated overwhelmingly at first, but it does not protect against disease and transmission. We are following personal protective measures, as our suspended colleagues followed for 18 months and will continue to follow after the measure is lifted. On September 9, 2022, we will organize a large mobilization in Thessaloniki with a march that will start from the Hippocrates Hospital at 8 am. One of our main demands is to lift the suspension of work.”
