OceanGate Expeditions has just released the first excerpt from these incredibly accurate images. It features a bow, as well as an anchor chain, number one holder and an anchor, news.ro notes.

Discovered in 1985, the sunken ship became the impetus for numerous expeditions for exciting research, which over time revealed a little more of its secrets. In 2021, the company specializing in the study of the seabed Ocean Gate inaugurated an expedition to the sunken ship, located at a depth of almost 4,000 meters in the North Atlantic, about 600 kilometers from the coast of Newfoundland.

The footage shot in 8K especially shows the state of decomposition of the wreckage. The public can see up close the famous “rusticules”, a kind of brown stalactites formed by rust, which alarmingly weakens the ship’s hull.

“At the beginning of the video you can see the crane used to deploy the massive 15-tonne anchor that is still on the deck of the sunken ship and the chain that was originally attached to the mainmast, which has now collapsed,” said Paul-Henri Narjeolet . Titanic specialist who participated in the expedition.

Fascinating images that remind us that a shipwreck can disappear forever, carrying with it some of the most fascinating and terrifying evidence of 20th century naval history. There will remain, however, other amazing images offered by James Cameron’s Titanic. Or emotional stories of victims.

“It was a quarter to ten in the evening when the Titanic and the iceberg met,” reported Le Figaro on April 20, 1912, based on the testimony of survivors.

“He did not hit from the front, but from the side. Then all who were inside rushed to the deck. Screams and noise woke up those who had already gone to their cabins and who went out on deck. However, we are not yet aware of the scale of the disaster. The officers calmed down the passengers, but apparently the police themselves did not consider the collision to be that serious at the time. And indeed, as there was a ball on board to celebrate Sunday, the music played merry tunes. Only half an hour later, passengers and officers began to realize the seriousness of the situation.”

The new expedition will take place in 2023.
