Russia warned the European Union on Wednesday about the “consequences” of the bloc’s decision to completely suspend the visa facilitation agreement between the EU and Russia, the Russian state agency RIA Novosti reported, as reported by CNN.

“Violation, circumvention or revocation by the EU of the visa facilitation agreement concluded with Russia will not remain without consequences. We ourselves will decide whether the measures will be symmetric, asymmetric or those that the EU does not expect,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Hrushko told RIA Novosti.

“If Brussels decides to shoot itself in the foot again, then that’s their choice,” he added.

After an informal two-day meeting in Prague, EU foreign ministers on Wednesday reached a political consensus on the complete suspension of the visa facilitation agreement between the European Union and Russia.
