Romanians Iryna Begu, Raluka Olaru and Iryna Bara were eliminated from the first round of the doubles tournament at the US Open 2022, the last Grand Slam of the year.

The pairing of Begu and Olara lost to Alona Bolsova/Ulrikke Eikeri (Spain/Norway) 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 after two hours and 22 minutes of play.

Bara and Kateryna Gorgodze (Georgia) were defeated by the team of Tereza Mikhalikova/Alyaksandra Sasnovich (Slovakia/Belarus) with a score of 6-4, 6-1. The match lasted one hour and 28 minutes.

• The first-round losers will receive checks for $21,300 and 10 WTA doubles points.

• In the doubles category, Romania left three representatives – the pair of Monica Niculescu/Gabriela Ruse and Ana Bohdan (she performs in a pair with the American Sabrina Santamaria).
