“It’s like he’s smiling,” the owner of an 11-year-old golden retriever with arthritis told Dr. Alina Bunescu after Rigenera’s intervention, which not only relieved the dog’s pain but also helped him regain mobility. . Dr. Alina Bunescu of The Vets is one of the first veterinarians in Romania to introduce Rigenera treatment for chronic pain and tissue regeneration in certain conditions.

With the entry of Hera’s, a veterinary clinic with many years of history in Bucharest, to The Vets network, our pets have access to a wider range of comprehensive services. The combined experience of the doctors at The Vets’ four clinics, as well as the pooling of experience and resources, means that any animal health problem is dealt with comprehensively to the highest standards.

Among the proposed treatments is Rigenera, an intelligent, innovative new-generation regenerative medicine that restores the structure and function of damaged tissues.

“Since I’ve been using it, I’ve had amazing results with Rigenera,” says doctor Alina Bunescu. “It does two very important things — regeneration and pain management. It turns off pro-inflammatory genes and causes the inflammation at the site of the reaction to go away,” she explains.

Basically, cells are harvested from healthy tissue, such as the ear, through a small incision, and placed in a special device that generates progenitor cells, which are then injected into the affected area. This is a micro-injection technique, not an actual treatment.

It is important to emphasize that the intervention is minimally invasive and has no contraindications. “A geriatric patient, for example, should not be under anesthesia for a long time. The procedure takes a maximum of half an hour. It’s a light anesthesia,” says the doctor, emphasizing the importance of this for old or weakened animals.

Analgesia and regeneration in arthrosis and arthritis in animals

It has an important application in veterinary medicine, as well as in human medicine, in arthrosis, arthritis and rheumatoid polyarthritis. “You’re not actually curing an autoimmune disease like polyarthritis, but you’re dealing with the inflammation, the area, and helping the tissue regenerate. If it is arthrosis, it can really be cured,” says Dr. Alina Bunescu.

After the intervention of Rigenera, changes are visible in the first 72 hours. That’s what happened to Victor, the golden retriever I talked about at the beginning. The dog had dysplasia and could hardly move. “If not operated on, dysplasia will always cause arthrosis,” says the doctor. “The position of the bone is still wrong.” From the age of 6, Viktor’s arthrosis worsened. Especially when it was cold, the hostess always came with him for treatment. Dr. Alina Bunescu performed the intervention when the dog was 11 years old.

“This hasn’t happened since I was 6 years old,” exclaimed the happy hostess. However, the doctor draws attention to one very important thing – no matter how happy we are that the animal can suddenly move well, again, we should not let it run immediately after intervention with Rigenera. “This is a sick joint, the muscles have atrophied over the years. Don’t face it. Over time, muscle strength is restored, but not immediately,” she emphasizes. “I know you like it a lot, but you have to be careful. This is what I tell everyone.”

Usually, pet owners come to the doctor when arthrosis is very advanced, “bone on bone”. If we are talking about the fourth degree of arthrosis, then on a human scale, Rigenera can no longer help in regeneration, but only in pain relief. But if we are talking about arthrosis, which has not yet reached the maximum degree of severity, regeneration occurs. Therefore, says the doctor, it is important to come to the veterinary clinic as soon as we notice that our animal has problems with movement, for example, that it walks crookedly. In this way, the disease is kept under control.

It is recommended to repeat Rigenera intervention every 3-5 years. It does not have side effects, like anti-inflammatory and other drugs that are given for arthrosis or arthritis. “Even if it’s a young animal, if you keep it on anti-inflammatory drugs for 2-3 years, its pancreas or liver will reach the level of an old animal. It is very toxic,” says the doctor.

What else is Rigenera used for in veterinary medicine – for dermatological, parasitic and other diseases

If we talk about the skin, Rigenera therapy deals with regeneration, pain and neoangiogenesis. With dermatological lesions, Rygener promotes tissue regeneration. If it is due to a parasitic disease, we first treat the disease to eliminate the parasite, then apply Rigenera therapy to restore the cells at the skin level. If the damage is small, new cells are born.

“These are parasitic diseases where we have very good results. If you fight the parasite with an antiparasitic agent, Rigenera helps the skin to close faster, helps the wound to heal better,” says doctor Alina Bunescu from experience.

In other countries, Rigenera is also used in dentistry, for gum regeneration. Dr. Alina Bunescu says that soon the same thing will happen here.

If we have an animal in old age, how can we prevent the exacerbation of certain diseases?

The doctor recommends that after 8 years (even 6 in the case of some breeds) at least once a year, and ideally twice, we conduct complete analyzes of our animal – biochemistry, hematology, urine. “As a doctor, I know how quickly things can change. Ideally, we would also do an ultrasound of the heart and abdomen every year, as well as tests for endocrine diseases.”

If we talk about such diseases as arthrosis or arthritis in elderly patients, then they never come by themselves. For example, they can be accompanied by kidney failure or heart problems. Especially in these cases, pain treatment cannot be carried out in a classical way, with the help of anti-inflammatory drugs, but requires a minimally invasive treatment without side effects, for example Rigenera.
