Bianca Andreescu made her US Open 2022 debut, the athlete representing Canada qualified for the second round after the Frenchwoman Harmony Tan (112 WTA, wild card holder) was eliminated.

The winner of the competition in 2019, Andreescu beat in one hour and 40 minutes (6-0, 3-6, 6-1) the athlete who knocked out Serena Williams in the first round of Wimbledon-2022.

In the next round, Bianca (48 WTA) will meet Beatrice Haddad Maia (15th favorite). The Brazilian, one of the most prepared players on the circuit, had a perfect match against the Croatian Ana Konjuh (117 WTA): 6-0, 6-0 after an hour of play.

The last player to win a double bagel at the US Open was Naomi Osaka in 2018 (against Oleksandra Sasnovich), and that year the Japanese athlete won the tournament.
