Imagine something worth crossing an ocean for… something special and precious… deep and reflective. After two years online, now live. This is how Mario Giotto from Brazil reacted on social networks to the registration to participate in INACCESSIBLE. How did a festival in Romania manage to bring together thousands of people from over 71 countries from all over the world, and what really happens during the four days of the event?

UNFINISHED is a festival that you understand only after visitingPhoto: UNFINISHED festival

UNFINISHED is the first multidisciplinary festival in Romania, which combines several disciplines – art, science, politics, health, philosophy, etc. – with all forms of artistic expression – workshops, panels, concerts, shared tables, debates, exhibitions. . Each edition revolves around a specific theme and this theme is expressed, experienced and discussed by people from various fields for a holistic understanding of the concept. For example, this year the theme of the festival is OFF-CENTER, which means decentralization, and the community will explore this concept from as many perspectives as possible: what does decentralization mean in art, in tourism, in neuroscience, how does the Idea of Off Center apply to a musician or a biologist? So that at the end of the 4 days of the festival, the participants will be left with answers, but especially with questions that will open their appetite for knowledge and understanding of areas other than those in which they are active. But above all, to understand the influence of others on their lives, regardless of generation, nation and discipline. In this way, UNFINISHED has managed to develop an ever-growing community that thrives on curiosity and multidisciplinarity for deeper understanding.

The festival tries to go beyond the classical structure of the event and embraces imperfection as the reason why we evolve, constantly search and change. That is why, although the event has a clear schedule, the organizers give speakers, guests and the whole community the freedom to express themselves and experience what they feel in that moment. Often, the panel turned into a special concert, a workshop that was supposed to happen once, was held every day, simply because the speaker communicated with the community or asked for a new format of his intervention, because he was inspired by another guest.

Perhaps one of the biggest differences compared to other similar events is that the only way to participate in the festival is to fill out a form asking questions about the motivation and vision of those who want to be part of the community, as well as their openness to stepping out of their comfort zone and desire to learn In essence, time is a currency far more valuable than money. Out of the thousands of applications submitted this year, the organizers are accepting only 3,141 participants who will have physical access to the festival, and 13,000 who will have online access.

UNFINISHED22 will be a truly hybrid event, taking place both online and offline. Offline, in University House and all its satellite spaces, and online, on the Sessions own platform, which will effectively mirror the entire offline experience. There will be 4 days of workshops, performances, debates, talks and presentations exploring the concept of decentralization under the theme OFF-CENTER.
