Pop star Britney Spears on Sunday night in a long audio message on YouTube condemned 13 years of guardianship, carried out mainly by her father, because of the psychological disorders of the American singer, reports AFP.
The conservatorship, which was granted in 2008 and ended by a Los Angeles court order on Nov. 12, was largely under the direction of Jamie Spears, Britney Spears’ father.
The 40-year-old star has also made brief statements on the subject following the termination of her guardianship, which she described as “abusive” and which prevented her from giving up her IUD despite her desire to have more children.
Britney Spears married her fiance Sam Asghari, 28, in June. In the spring, the couple announced that the pop star had suffered a miscarriage.
“And I accepted”
In a 22-minute audio message posted on YouTube on Sunday night and published by US magazine Variety, Britney Spears decries 13 years of living under her father’s “control” in a sad and sometimes hoarse voice, with the approval, according to the star, of her “mother”, “brother ” and “friends”.
“What the hell did I do to deserve this,” the singer says in the audio recording, accusing family and friends of “literally killing her.”
The artist believes that her father, Jamie Spears, “punished” her during the 13 years of custody, not allowing her “to see anyone or say anything.”
“Everything was organized. No drugs, no alcohol, no nothing. Pure mockery of weakness, she denounced, accusing her relatives of “making her feel like (she’s) nothing.”
“And I agreed,” concluded Britney Spears.
The first work, after six years
However, on Friday the singer released her first song in six years – a duet with British singer Elton John called “Hold Me Closer”.
