
Military firefighters are involved in extinguishing a forest fire that broke out near Wharful Hreban in the Maramureş Mountains, and the Ministry of Defense has dispatched an aircraft to support them, a spokesman for ISU Maramureş said on Sunday.
“Maramureshi Military Firefighters are currently responding to a bushfire reported in Waserului Valley, Warfului Greaban area. Two officers and five NCOs are at the scene with a 6 x 6 fire engine from Viseu de Sous Fire Station. District forestry workers also provide support. The intervention force is coordinated by a lieutenant colonel. Picis Marian, chief inspector of ISU Maramureş,” said ISU Maramureş spokesman Cornel Babut, as quoted by Agerpres.
According to the same source, a military aircraft supports firefighters in extinguishing the fire.
“The command of the inspection has requested, in agreement with the Department of Emergency Situations, aviation support to localize and eliminate the fire, since the area where it is manifested is located approximately 10 kilometers from the city of Viseu-de. Sousse, at an altitude of about 1400 meters, it is not accessible from land. According to the request, the plane of the Ministry of National Defense made four extinguishing sorties today. The intervention will continue until the outbreak is eliminated,” said Babuts.
