Four associations of European judges have appealed to the Court of Justice of the European Union a decision by Brussels to approve Poland’s restart and resilience plan, Reuters reported in a statement from the magistrates involved published on Sunday.

Poland’s access to 23.9 billion euros in non-refundable loans and 11.5 billion euros in concessional loans was blocked due to a dispute between Warsaw and Brussels over the independence of the judiciary, Agerpres reports.

However, in June, the European Commission announced that it was going to approve a plan to restore the Polish economy after the coronavirus epidemic.

Earlier this month, Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party threatened to use its veto power to block EU initiatives if the European Commission did not unlock funds for Poland under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
