Over the last day, 1,403 new cases of COVID-19 were registered, which is 1,315 less than the previous day, the Ministry of Health reports. At the same time, 6 deaths were recorded, all the deceased had other concomitant diseases, 5 were unvaccinated.

“In the last day, 1,403 new cases of SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) infection were registered, which is 1,315 less than the previous day. 227 new cases in 24 hours are reinfected patients, the test is positive more than 90 days after the first infection,” – the Ministry of Health reported on Sunday, News.ro reports

Bucharest had 194 new cases and the counties had fewer than 100 cases each, while Covasna had no cases.

In contrast to new confirmed cases, 82 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2,861, which is 90 more than the previous day. Also, 260 people were hospitalized in ATZ, which is 13 more than the previous day.

Of the 260 patients admitted to the HTI, 212 are unvaccinated. Of the total number of hospitalized persons, 369 are minors, 360 are hospitalized in wards, which is 33 more than the previous day, and 9 in the emergency department, 6 more than the previous day.

By Sunday, 66,637 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 had died.

In the period from 27.08.2022 (10:00) to 28.08.2022 (10:00), the National Health Service reported 6 deaths (3 men and 3 women), there were no deaths before the control interval.

Out of 6 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category of 50-59 years, 2 in the age category of 60-69 years, 1 in the age category of 70-79 years and 2 in the age category over 80 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases and 5 were unvaccinated.

Over the last day, 2,070 RT-PCR tests were performed (1,061 according to diagnosis and medical protocol and 1,009 according to request) and 6,881 rapid antigen tests. To date, 13,416,068 RT-PCR tests and 11,194,431 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
