
According to the police, a Russian missile hit the historic district of the city of Kharkiv (north-eastern Ukraine) on Saturday, one person was injured, The Guardian reports.
The rocket attack damaged several buildings and left a large crater in the middle of the street. A local police officer told Reuters:
- “There are no military facilities here, no military equipment. Near the place of impact, only residential buildings, ordinary citizens.”
Tetyana Zvyagintseva, a local saleswoman who was cleaning up broken glass scattered on the asphalt while looking at the damage to her store, says:
- “Horror and nightmare. (Russians) are tormenting our city. Endless shelling exhausted us all.”

Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, located about 40 kilometers from the Russian border, is regularly shelled by Russian forces, who have never been able to capture it. According to local authorities, hundreds of civilians were killed in the region of the same name.
