In a statement on national television, Vereshchuk said that the first priority is to evacuate women with children and the elderly from some areas of the eastern Kharkiv region and the south of the Zaporizhia and Mykolaiv regions.

“I’m not talking about entire regions, but mandatory evacuation will be necessary in some parts, and we are preparing for that,” the government official said.

Iryna Verestiuk urged residents not to resist and warned that they also face the threat of Russian occupation, adding: “If they stay there, people will suffer, especially children.”

At the end of July, the Ukrainian government began the mandatory evacuation of the population of eastern Donetsk region, which it began this month. Cities and regions in the industrial east under the control of Ukrainian authorities are under constant fire from Russian and pro-Russian forces.
