Mayor-General Nikushor Dan on Friday fired the head of the City Hall’s Safety at Work department after a statue fell on a child in the hall of the institution on Monday.

  • “After the accident on August 22 in the lobby of the capital’s city hall and the preliminary findings of the internal administrative investigation, I decided to replace the head of the Occupational Safety Service at the Bucharest City Hall for deficiencies in activity.
  • An internal investigation is ongoing, and depending on its outcome, I may take further administrative action. At the same time, representatives of the PMB provided information for the investigation of the police regarding this event,” the general mayor wrote on the Facebook page.

According to data on the website of the capital’s mayor’s office, Dragoš Mateescu was the head of the Labor Protection Service.

Nikushor Dan says that since Monday he has been in constant communication with the “Grigore Alexandrescu” hospital, where the child is hospitalized.

“According to the information received, the boy was operated on on August 24, 2022, his health condition gradually improved compared to the day of the accident. I wish him good health and wish that we will continue to hear only good news from the hospital,” Nikushor Dan explained.
