Six months after President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s offensive in Donbas is making minimal progress and its forces are running low on ammunition, vehicles and personnel, according to the latest assessment by Britain’s Ministry of Defence.
“The offensive in Donbas is minimal, and Russia is expecting a powerful Ukrainian counterattack. Operationally, Russia is experiencing a shortage of ammunition, equipment and personnel.
The morale of Russian soldiers is low, and the army has degraded significantly. Its diplomatic power has been diminished and its long-term economic prospects are bleak. Six months have passed, and Russia’s war has proved both costly and strategically unprofitable,” British intelligence reported.
