What do German tourists say?

They even said that they were afraid to leave the hotel while the criminals were walking free.

One of the sons of a German family told ERT: “It was like a gunman, I can’t describe to you how terrible this incident was and how threatened my life I felt when he moved towards me with a knife. Seeing my sister crying made me instinctively want to protect her, but there is little you can do when you have a knife in front of you. It was a real shock.”

When asked by another son about how they feel about our country, Crete, and whether they will visit it again in the future, he replied that the incident showed him a sense of insecurity in the system. “If I come to Greece again, I would like to make sure that the two criminals are brought to justice, and especially the one who attacked us, I want him to be imprisoned.”

Version of the defendants

According to cretalive.gr, the defendants claim that one of the Germans, a boxer, punched a 38-year-old man in the face so that he injured his nose.

horror scene

However, information indicates that the start was made by a 38-year-old 4×4 driver who, when the Germans asked him for damage data, got out of the car and hit the 25-year-old German in the face, sitting in the passenger seat with the window open.

After seeing his brother being beaten, the 27-year-old German got out of the rented car and hit the 38-year-old.

Judging by the description, a 36-year-old Cretan navigator, who was also caught hand in hand with a 25-year-old German, took an active part in the episode.

And while the fight was going on, the 38-year-old allegedly went out on 4×4, took a knife and threateningly moved towards the Germans, who, seeing the impending danger, entered the rental and began to leave.

What happened next was even more dangerous, as two Cretans allegedly pursued the German car, tripping over it several times.

When they managed to overtake them, they were hit in reverse and their rear wheels rested on the hood of a rental car with scenes recorded by a security camera.

The German’s family believes the attack was racially motivated and say they are still alive thanks to the experienced demeanor of the 46-year-old driver.

They also acknowledge that the help of the local villagers of Perama, who helped them escape, was the catalyst.

What ELAS says in his message

“The rented car drivers signaled the car in front to stop until at some point it came to an abrupt stop in front of them. Then the driver drove the car towards the IHF, and the second victim, opening the passenger door window, asked for their data.

Then the moment when the Cretans attacked the Germans is described.

“Immediately, the driver of the Ministry of Emergency Situations very quickly jumped out of the car and punched the second victim in the face through the open window. Then the victim c, the brother of the previous one, got out of the car and hit the driver of the vehicle that hit his brother, at the same time the passenger of the car – the accused b – also got out of the car and threateningly moved towards him, trying to hit him, as well as the driver of the rented car , who also got out of the car to help victims b and c.

While a fight was going on between b the defendant and b the victim, the driver of the IHF vehicle – the defendant – approached his car, took a large knife and moved menacingly towards b the victim in such a way that it showed that he intended to kill him painfully. Then victims a, b and c, fearing for their lives, got into the car along with the rest of the victims and left, saving their lives.”

“At the same time, the aforementioned defendants also got into their car, again driven by the first defendant, and followed the victims, making dangerous maneuvers, hitting their car from behind in order to get them out of the way. When the rented car arrived in Perama, municipality of Mylopotamos, the driver of the IHF caught up with the car of the victim, blocked the road and, after reversing, continued to hit their car from the front until the citizens present at the scene were able to free the car of the victim, which went straight to their hotel, from where they reported to the police.”
