American border police in New Mexico detained three illegal immigrants who dressed up as the character Chewbacca from “Star Wars”, trying to cross the border without showing the authorities, reports EFE.
Gloria Chavez, chief of the Border Patrol in the El Paso sector, posted on her Twitter page three photos of the men covered in clothing known as “Gilli suits,” which use long fibers or leaves for camouflage.

At the same time, she congratulated agents in the El Paso sector and in Santa Teresa “for intercepting three migrants who used camouflage suits to blend in with the desert area of Southern New Mexico.”
Between October 2021, when fiscal year 2022 began, and July, the Border Patrol apprehended more than 2.2 million illegal migrants in the south and southwest of the country.
The majority of illegal migrants come from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, AgerPres notes.
