Cases of the illegal killing of three bears in the Florina area over the past two months are being investigated by the services of the Ministry of Environment and Energy on the orders of Deputy Minister Giorgos Amiras, according to a release. ad.

Three incidents have been reported, according to official figures from the Florina Forestry Authority:

  1. June 21 in the riverbed in the area of ​​T.K. Agripidius.
  2. August 11 in the T.K. Agripidius.
  3. August 12 in a stream near T.K. Sklatrow.

“From the first moment, the Florina Forestry Authority has taken the following actions,” the report notes:

  • In all three cases, the autopsy was carried out on the ground by the direct intervention team of the Florina Forestry Authority, the direct intervention team of ARKTOUROS and the municipality of Amintaio.
  • The results of the autopsies of the ARCTUROS veterinarian, Dr. Silvias Kalogeropoulou, so that the agency can carry out the actions required by law, such as necessary investigative actions.
  • It is in direct cooperation with ARKTOUROS and EL.AS. for a better investigation.

“The services of the Ministry are in direct cooperation with EL.AS. to clear things up. We will do everything in our power to protect the mammal population, always in cooperation with ARKTOUROS,” Mr. Amiras said in the announcement, among other things.

“With regard to the heinous crime in Florina and the protection of the brown bear in Greece in general, ARCTUROS demands: a) the immediate clarification of the case and exemplary punishment of the perpetrator, b) the immediate institutionalization of the National Action Plan. on the brown bear, c) full and effective implementation of the WFD when bears approach residential areas.
