
The number of migrants found after the third boat ran aground yesterday, Thursday, August 18, in the morning, at 71 o’clock. Kitera.
According to the Coast Guard, eight people were found in the wider Limnion sea area west of Kythera, where a sailboat carrying migrants ran aground, and another 63 migrants were subsequently found in a steep, difficult-to-reach area.
Of the 71 immigrants, seven are women, 52 are men and 12 are minors.
The sailboat remains aground in the surface area, while no pollution of the marine environment as a result of the incident was observed. They are also looking for two foreigners suspected of human trafficking.
Two more boats with migrants
It is noted that the day before yesterday, on Wednesday, August 17, two more boats with 170 migrants were seen in the waters of Kitira. The first boat, which was a sailboat, ran aground in the seaside area of Piso Gialos in Kapsala and 97 people (15 women and 82 men) were found on it, including three Turkish alleged traffickers aged 17, 29 and 30.
The second ship, also sailing, was in the sea area of Kapsali south of Cythera. In total, there were 73 people on board (6 women, 46 men and 21 minors), including two arrested Russian citizens suspected of human trafficking, aged 34 and 41.
