On Thursday, the Russian Air Force fired on targets around the city of Kerch in Crimea, despite the fact that the Ukrainian peninsula has been occupied by Moscow since 2014, DPA and Agerpres write.
The port city of Kerch is the gateway to the 18-kilometer bridge connecting Crimea with Russia. Ukraine views the bridge, built in 2018, as a legitimate target in an attempt to force the Russian occupiers to leave the occupied territory.
“There is no danger for the city or the bridge,” Oleg Kryuchikov, adviser to the Russian leadership in Crimea, said in Telegram, without naming the target.
Residents of Kerch reported on social networks that they heard two explosions.
Russia has threatened mass repressions in the event of an attack on the rail-road bridge.
Traffic on the bridge is normal, the authorities told the Russian news agency TASS.
