Two French climbers discovered a body on the Stockier Glacier in Switzerland while hiking the Haute Route, a well-known route from Chamonix to Zermatt, News.ro reported with reference to the French press.
The body was frozen for many years and was discovered after the ice melted due to global warming. According to climbers, the body dates back to the 1970s and 1980s.
“This is a mummy. The glacier froze everything,” testified one of the two climbers.
“He did not have modern equipment. He wore leather boots with steel studs and belts that were long out of use. Everything is perfectly preserved,” he added.

Another useful clue to identification is the presence of a telescoping stick, an invention of the 1970s, which can probably provide an indication of the date of death.
After receiving the alarm, the Zermatt police recovered the body and began identification.
According to Le Parisien, after analyzing the bones and material, the researchers will have to try to correlate the results of the analysis with the data contained in the file of 300 climbers who have disappeared in this canton since 1925.
