Battle with the flames on Thassos – 40 fires in the last 24 hours

Battle with flame continue to provide ground and air forces to Skala Potamias on the island of Thassos, as after re-igniting in the early hours of Saturday, the fire spread further north, burning a forested area in a mountainous inaccessible area.

Firefighting planes and helicopters have been continuously dropping water since early morning, as long as there is no strong wind in the area, so the work of the fire brigade is facilitated. However, all involved are working to bring the fire under control before sunset, when air operations cease.
