Three illegal migrants were killed and several were injured in Austria on Saturday after a van carrying them tried to flee from border police and overturned, Austria’s APA news agency reported, citing AFP.
The accident happened in Burgenland, near the border with Hungary.
Twenty people, including children, were crammed into the back of the van. Two men and a woman died as a result of the overturning of the car, and the driver was detained, APA reports.
France Presse recalls that in May, the Ministry of the Interior of Austria announced the liquidation of the network that transported tens of thousands of illegal migrants, mainly Syrian, from Hungary to Austria.
