Stavros Harchakos brings together tradition and a new generation with two concerts in Sir.

Not too long ago, a video of Stavros Harchakos heading a young company playing Fragosiriani in a tavern in Sira went viral.

Everyone admired the maestro with a generous soul, who instilled his passion for children in the new generation. Of course, most online viewers didn’t know that it wasn’t a coincidence that the composer ended up at the head of a group of young musicians he met in front of him one night.

In fact, he is the man who helped found their school.

This is En Chordais & Organois, an initiative to preserve the Vamvakaris folk music tradition and employ master teachers who are passionate about passing on their knowledge to the next generation. This is how a unique music school was born, which is already giving its first sprouts.

Therefore, in the taverns and hangouts of Sira, one can often see pitsirikads proudly walking around with their bouzouki and having parties, at one of which the maestro gave his seal. Harakos’s commitment to taking an active interest in the preservation of folk music and rebetika music not only resonated with young Syrians who enter the school with enthusiasm, but also met with many supporters who rushed to contribute in many ways. He has also received universal recognition from the municipality as he was declared an honorary citizen some time ago, both for his contribution and for his maternal roots in Ermoupolis.

The maestro’s musical performance “5 folk figures in a vivid erotic manner” was next, attended by thousands of spectators all over Greece and presented in Syra on Saturday, 13 and Sunday, 14 August.

The concerts will take place in the famous Chiropin mansion, in Delagracia, one of the ancient aristocratic resorts with a unique architectural heritage. It will be a tribute to the great composers and the latest musical history of our country in a single melodic narrative.

Leading an orchestra of eight leading soloists who also accompany him on vocals, Harchakos performs a wide range of works by Markos Vamvakaris, Mikis Theodorakis, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Manos Hadjidakis, as well as his own compositions. Iro Saia performs, but the important thing is that two concerts will be attended by students from the En Chordais & Organois school, who will be next to him on stage. All generations will meet again in one pulse.
