Land of Women is the title of a new six-episode Apple TV+ drama series inspired by Sandra Barnes’ best-selling book produced and starring Eva Longoria. Next to her is the Spanish actress Carmen Maura.
The series, written by Ramon Campos and Gemma R. Neira, tells the story of Gala (Longoria), a New York City housewife who is forced to leave her home after her husband leads them into financial irregularities.
She is joined on the trip by her elderly mother Julia (Maura) and her 18-year-old daughter. They move to Northern Spain, the same city her mother left 50 years ago after vowing to herself never to return to the US. Their fresh start with new personalities proves difficult because secrets are easily revealed.
Pre-production is already underway in Spain.
According to Deadline, it will be directed by Carlos Sendes and will be filmed in English and Spanish.
