More than 100 archaeological sites, historical sites, museums and monuments across the country welcome the public tonight to enjoy the August full moon.
For another year, the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Sports will take place in 50 archaeological sites and museums, while 55 will remain open to the public with free admission.
The program mainly includes concerts, as well as theater and dance performances, poetry readings, film screenings, stargazing and excursions, many of which are organized in cooperation with local authorities and local clubs.
This year’s event will also be framed by events that will follow on the following days, 13, 19, 20 and 27 August.
This year, one hundred years after the catastrophe in Asia Minor, the event is dedicated to the event of the Exodus of Hellenism from Asia Minor and the trace that it left in the collective memory.
Scientifically, the August full moon is the last super full moon of the year. The next super full moon will come in a year, in August 2023. At the same time, this year, along with the super full moon, the peak of the “rain” of the Perseids also falls on these days.
