
In the mountainous area on the Arta-Etoloakarnania border, the police found the car in which the 29-year-old man fled, immediately after the murder of his 75-year-old father-in-law in Astrochori, mountainous Arta.
According to police sources, the alleged perpetrator of the murder of the elderly man was met by a local shepherd, whom he told that he went uphill because he had problems with relatives.
The police are conducting a search in the area, and it is believed that only a few hours remain before his arrest or transfer.
At 5 p.m., Artas, a 29-year-old resident of Mesopyrgos, went to his father-in-law’s house and, after they had an argument, allegedly shot him at least four times with a hunting rifle.
Chronology of the crime
According to APE, the alleged perpetrator and the victim’s daughter lived in Arta and faced family problems.
At noon, the woman’s 75-year-old father went to Arta, picked up his daughter from her home and took her to her father’s home in Astrochori.
The husband, armed with a carbine, followed them and, having reached the village, went to his father-in-law’s house, where he shot him four times.
Immediately after that, he went to the mountains.
The police immediately launched an investigation into his whereabouts. The 29-year-old man is from the nearby village of Mesopyrgos and knows the area well.
