At the initiative of the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Maria Syregely, a 26-year-old woman who became a victim of domestic violence in Volos now in a safe place.

Upon learning of the incident, Ms. Siringela hurried to contact the woman, providing her with all the information about the structures that exist and can support her, at the same time, she made sure that she was removed immediately to ensure her safety and that of her child.

Recall that last Sunday evening, the 36-year-old partner of a 26-year-old woman threatened to kill her with a screwdriver in front of her child. The man hit her in the face and arms, while saying that she would suffer from what other women show on the news.”

The police arrested the perpetrator, who was taken to the Autoforo administrative court in Volos yesterday on charges of physical domestic violence, physical threat to the family and verbal abuse.

The 36-year-old man was released on parole, and the woman burst into tears and shouted that “soon she will also be reported on.” Finally, the court decided to grant the 26-year-old man police protection.

It is noted that in the first half of 2022 alone, 241 female victims of violence were referred to placement structures, offering them coverage on the most basic issues.
