Long-haired goats and shepherds, monks in alica rasa and pilgrims with ruddy cheeks, ready to crumble in the smiling faces of earthlings, contrast sharply with the exquisite decoration of the Palazzo Bonaparte. The residence of Letizia Ramolino, whose second son will become Emperor of France, is hosting an exhibition of 40 large-scale works by Chinese artist Han Yusheng titled “Tibet, splendor and purity” in Piazza Venezia in central Rome. The exhibition is entirely dedicated to the “Roof of the World” where Han Yusheng first started painting in 2006. Tibetan monks, plateau dwellers, the unique landscape of the region are the exclusive themes of this retrospective exhibition, organized by the Municipality of Rome, edited by Nicolina Bianchi and Gabriele Simonghini.

Born in 1954 in Jilin Province, Han Yusheng began painting his first portraits while working in the propaganda department of the Handan Railway and then studying under scholars Li Hua and Su Gaoli. An artist with numerous retrospective and solo exhibitions, he manages to combine “the ancient traditions of Chinese calligraphy and painting with the European artistic heritage of oil painting”, as stated in the text of his award at the Florence Biennale in 2019. A poet and a photographer, but above all an artist with an undeniable pictorial ability, with a collection of these works, demonstrates his preference for the traditional, fixing on his canvas an area that has not yet been spoiled by technology and evolution, full of purity and spirituality.

It’s worth checking out the artist’s official Instagram account, which basically documents the steps involved in creating this collection of work. Tibetans in their best or others in their dusty and worn everyday clothes, the girls smile shyly, and Han Yushen, always dressed in his work robe, wide-brimmed hat and with an easel buried in mud, paints both landscapes and landscapes. impressive and vivid portraits of the exhibition from nature.

It has already been painted on both sides and is on display at the Hecht Museum in the city of Israel. A long-awaited exhibition at the Palace Museum, featuring 900 rare Chinese heritage items donated by the Beijing Palace Museum, has opened to the public.
