The data presented relates to cases of epidemiological surveillance of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Data refer to the ISO 31/2022 base week (01 August 2022 – 07 August 2022).

During the reporting week, they were recorded 100,421 COVID-19 cases (9 626 per million population: -19% weekly change), of which re-infections concern 21% of infections.

The total number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic is 4,577,675, of which 51.8% are women.

The case-based 𝑅𝑡 for area is estimated at 0.93 (95% CI: 0.81 – 1.05).

The total number of hospitalizations in regional hospitals for the reporting week amounted to 2343 patients (7-mo: 335, weekly change -8%), and the total number of discharges is 2195 patients (7-mo: 314, -1% weekly change).

The number of intubated patients by the end of the reporting week is 120 (60.8% of men) with a mean age of 70 years and 95.0% with an underlying disease and/or age of 70 years or older.

Chart 2 shows the weekly distribution of hospitalizations and discharges of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals in the region.

The data is taken from the 36th iso-week of 2020 to the 31st iso-week of 2022.

On fig. 3 shows the weekly distribution of new intubated COVID-19 patients. Data are from the start of the pandemic to week 31 of the 2022 iso-week.

During the reporting week, they were recorded 314 COVID-19 patient deaths (30 per million population: -18% weekly change), while a total of 31,722 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the epidemic, with 95.9% having an underlying disease and/or being 70 years of age or older.

On fig. 4 shows the weekly distribution of deaths. Data are from the start of the pandemic to week 31 of the 2022 iso-week.

The average age of the patients was 38 years, the average age of the deceased was 80 years.
