
Police officers from Alexandroupolis and Kavala Police Stations handcuffed four people involved in two separate illegal immigration cases. These are three foreigners and one citizen detained in the Evros and Kavala regions.
The first arrest was made at noon on Sunday in the countryside of Evros, where border guard police officers detained a foreigner for illegally transporting five migrants inland while driving a rural car, hiding them in a specially designed space in the vehicle’s chassis. Shortly thereafter, the police found and detained another foreigner and local resident near Feres, who delivered the aforementioned vehicle with fake license plates to a predetermined location, where an unlicensed merchant driver picked it up.
In the second case early Monday morning on the Egnatia Kavala-Thessaloniki road, officers from the Kavala Immigration Directorate Department arrested a foreign smuggler because, while driving an IXE, a vehicle illegally smuggled inland by an illegal immigrant.
Those arrested will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s offices, and preliminary investigations in two cases are being carried out by the Department of the Border Guard of Goods and the Department of the Immigration Directorate of Kavala.
