What is the fault of the people of Bucharest that parking spaces have not been built in the last 30 years? The current parking policy in Bucharest will torture some innocent people if no investment is made in the urban mobility infrastructure.
From 800 to 8640 lei per year you will have to pay for parking around your house, depending on where you live. If not, you will pay 200 lei per day and your car will be blocked until you pay the fine. If you don’t have money, each additional day means another 200 lei. And so on. This is 13% of the minimum wage per month, and so every day.
This is an abnormal fee for parking in a city where there are not enough parking spaces precisely because of the incompetence of the authorities, which have not yet created them. The size of the parking fee in the city should take into account both supply and demand, as well as the quality of the paid service and the alternatives that the administration offers to people when traveling by private car.
5 lei per hour is a decent parking fee in the center of Bucharest, a rate that encourages public, alternative or pedestrian transport, but the current rates for residence permits should be reduced. By the way, all state institutions and authorities have absolutely free parking. I don’t give a penny for them at the town hall. According to the principle “whoever divides, gets his own”.
And where will the money go? You might think that the city hall’s budget is for investments or some communal services. Not at all. Only 1% of the money you pay will go to the town hall. 99% of the money goes to the municipal company created by Ms. Firea, led by a gentleman who has a monthly salary of more than 30,000 lei per month. That’s where your money will go. USR Bucharest requested the closure of this company.
In addition, if we look at the history of the company, we will see that salaries accounted for almost 90% of expenses (87% to be exact).
These rates were offered even to Ms. Firea since the previous mandate.
All this does not warm us. Especially during the period of the economic crisis, when we were impoverished due to prices that do not stop growing.
What shall I do?
I will try to convince the PNL colleagues who control this parking lot to make numerous changes:
1. Lower tariffs for residents. Rates for residents should be lower than they are now. In particular, for a residence permit, the one that offers the possibility to park where there is a free space in the area where we live, the rate should be lower than a similar service offered by the branch municipalities;
2. Liquidation of the Municipal Parking Company and transfer of the service under the direct management of PMB or delegation of the public service, from which the City Hall receives the main part of the money;
3. Abolition of the “Riverani with reservation” category and associated rates, so that the capacity of public parking spaces is maximized, and the time spent by the driver to find a parking space is reduced;
4. Expansion of the zone where you can park on the basis of a resident’s permit, from the street level to the neighborhood level; More details at contributors.ro
