Prominent astrophysicist and honorary director of the Eugenides Planetarium Dionisis Simopoulos has died at the age of 79.
A few months ago, during an interview for ERT’s First Programme, he spoke about his battle with cancer.
“Pancreatic cancer is very difficult. When the doctors told me about it, I thought I had 2-3 months left to live, at the most. The doctor told me that if I did nothing, I would live 6 months, and if I did what I had to, I would live longer. 3 years have passed since then, and I still live and reign and believe that I will see the ideal reconstruction of the planetarium in 2023,” he said characteristically just a few months ago, in October 2021…
