
Consumer Protection Commissioners imposed fines of 140,000 lei on economic and commercial operators operating in the “Mall Veranda” shopping complex in Bucharest and in the new “Piață Obor” shopping complex.
“As part of the Ombudsman Academy programme, through which young ANPC employees have the opportunity, working in mixed control groups with experienced ANPC commissioners, to specialize in the field in a very short time, participating together for of comprehensive actions – The Regional Commissioner for Consumer Protection (CRPC) Bucharest-Ilfov conducted a series of inspections on 26 economic operators operating in the shopping complex “Mall Veranda” Bucharest and on 3 commercial operators from the commercial complex in the new “Piață Obor” checks, the extent to which they comply with the legal provisions in this field,” said an ANPC press release sent to AGERPRES on Saturday.
Additional measures have also been adopted, which provide for the final termination of the sale of non-compliant food products and the temporary suspension of the provision of services until the deficiencies are eliminated in relation to 14 economic entities.
ANPC representatives specified that at the time of sending the communique, “identified shortcomings in the activities of economic entities in the Veranda shopping center were eliminated, in connection with which the measure of temporary suspension of activity was lifted.”
“If even after we teach them, as we did in the spring, controlled economic entities do not understand anything, then only the language of sanctions works. We will continue to cleanse the market of the commercial insensitivity of some,” said Horia Constantinescu, President of ANPC.
According to the cited source, among the most important detected deviations were: the sale of some food products with an exceeded minimum expiration date, as well as the sale of frozen fish and seafood and products made from fish with organoleptic changes.
ANPC inspectors also discovered the use in the production process of some raw materials for human consumption exceeding the minimum expiration date, the sale of some products with vegetable fats called Feta cheese, and a change in thermal state. some products and drugs
The list of detected violations also included: non-compliance with the temperature regime of food storage, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, or dishes placed on a hot table and the use of raw materials for dishes or the sale of food products without identification and characteristics and without the specified minimum expiration date.
At the same time, ANPK inspectors found, among other things, the use of untreated and damaged refrigerated display cases or warehouses, with accumulations of a thick layer of ice and leftover food and inert insects, with worn and broken shelves, broken windows, an unsanitized ventilation system and the use of unsanitized eggs stored at room temperature.
