Diaspora Romanians who want to return to the country and invest in business can receive up to 200,000 lei in funding through the Start-Up Nation program, now in its third edition, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism has announced.

“Romania is home! Here, together, we can build a more prosperous present and future for both us and our children. There are many opportunities that you can take advantage of! One of them is the Start-Up Nation program, which for the first time has a pillar dedicated to the diaspora. In particular, you will be able to receive non-refundable financing of up to 200,000 lei for opening your own business in the country! Romania is waiting for you!” said Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism Constantin-Daniel Cadariu, quoted by news.ro.

The maximum amount worth 200,000 lei can be obtained if the project creates at least two full-time jobs. Applicants who instead assume the creation of one workplace will be able to receive a maximum of 100,000 lei. In addition, the beneficiary company must offer a co-financing percentage of at least 5% of the eligible project cost.

In order to access the program, in addition to the standard conditions established by the procedure (https://bit.ly/3BCYOfh), Romanians from the diaspora must provide proof of residence or residence abroad during the last 12 months prior to registration, with a passport at residence/proof of establishment, residence/long-term residence visas or residence permits.

The total budget of Pillar II Start-up Nation Diaspora is 20,031,000 lei. The goal of the Ministry of Enterprise and Tourism (MAT), the agency that manages and implements the program, is to fund 1,000 beneficiaries.
