Approval expected in August vaccine against coronavirus which are updated regarding the Omicron mutation, which will protect against diseases and severe diseases, as well as infections, according to information and assessment of pharmaceutical companies, Health Minister Thanos Pleuris said today in an interview with SKAI 100.3.
He added that these vaccines will soon include options 4 and 5.
For this reason, he pointed out, Greece has moved most of its orders to the last quarter of the year, as have most European countries, starting in the fall, as we will need more and more advanced vaccines then.
When asked if we are at the stage of developing vaccines that will be in the form of nasal sprays or inhaled, Mr. Plyuris said that there is a lot of effort and research being done at other levels, but he does not know how close we are to them, since it is purely scientific question.
Regarding the course of the pandemic, the minister said that the wave of coronavirus that prevailed in June and July has leveled off and is declining, and a decrease in the incidence and a large de-escalation are expected in the coming weeks.
He stated that a new wave is expected from September, but we have coverage of the population with vaccination, the widespread use of antiviral drugs, applications for which reach 500 per day, and more complete treatment protocols.
As for the personal doctor, he stressed that participation is free and the logic of the institution is that the citizen registers now to know that his electronic medical record will be created in the coming months and the doctor of his choice will monitor his health and have opportunity to direct it.
He reported that 25% of the doctors, along with those eligible to join, had joined, indicating that it was 3,000 doctors.
Finally, he mentioned that in Attica and the South Aegean, citizens and doctors will be able to register from September so that doctors have more time and more involvement.
