How the diplomatic scandal between Norway and Russia began
TASS reminds that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway deeply regrets the incident in which Elizabeth Ellingsen, an employee of the administrative affairs department of the Norwegian consulate in Murmansk, was injured in a local hotel.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deeply regrets this incident. The sentiments expressed in no way reflect Norwegian politics or the attitude of Norwegians towards Russia and the Russian people. The Ministry is investigating the incident through the appropriate channels,” Norwegian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tuba Rones Bogsnes said last week.
TASS and the Norwegian publication The Local reported that footage appeared on the Internet in which Ellingsen insults the employees of the Azimut hotel in Murmansk, referring to the poor conditions in the paid room.
“I hate Russians! Just give me a room. I’m used to cleaning rooms. I’m from Scandinavia, not some poor Russian girl doing laundry. It’s not clean. Can I even sleep in the bed?” Ellingsen asked angrily.
