A total area of over 130,000 ha has been affected by large forests. fires happened in July of this year in our country.
The area affected in July 2022 (~132,720 acres) corresponds to approximately 60% of our country’s total burned area as of 01/01/2022 (~215,000 acres), as seen in the following image.
The data was collected and processed by the pyrometeorological team FLAME of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA)/meteo.gr from the European Forest Fire Observatory (EFFIS) and the European Union’s Copernicus Rapid Mapping Service.
