A secret chamber was discovered in the Great Pyramid of Cheops

Back in 2016, an international team of researchers from France, Japan and Egypt suggested the existence of a secret room hidden in the Cheops pyramid, not far from the original entrance to the monument. It all started with a series of measurements and testing of some ultrasonic devices. More than six years later, the specialists’ suspicions were confirmed.

The same team used equipment that did not affect the pyramid, but allowed the identification of possible hidden cameras. Among them is a miniature robot equipped with a video camera that was inserted through a small opening between stone blocks in close proximity to the original entrance to the pyramid, which is not accessible to the general public.

According to the data provided by the researchers, they identified a five-meter corridor, at the end of which there is a room, the length of which significantly exceeds the length of the corridor itself. No footprints or other human activity were seen, which means that the site has not been visited for about 4,500 years.

The role of this secret room hidden behind the wall is still unknown. At least for now, experts refrain from speculation. In any case, further research is likely to be needed, and the scientists who made the discovery say it only prompts them to look for other secret chambers beyond Khufu’s pyramid.

New drug for diabetes, medicine for obesity

40% of the world’s population is either obese or has weight problems. A report by the World Obesity Federation also says that in 2035, about 4 billion people will fall into this category. And this is accompanied by many health problems, as we all know.

However, Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk claims it is on the verge of perfecting a miracle cure for obesity. With that will obviously come huge financial success, as analysts believe sales could reach $150 billion by 2031.

It is a drug that was originally used to reduce the effects of type 2 diabetes, GLP-1, which, after observations made on patients treated with it, has already shown that it can lead to weight loss of about 15%. At the same time, the American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly announced that it has created a similar drug, but with even more promising effects, and it will be available on the market by the end of the year.

With the prospect of making a profit, according to The Economist, AstraZenca, Pfizer and Amgen have already come online and are working on similar treatments. And all of them are announced as available to the general public.

The problem with GPL-1, the only treatment already tested in diabetes patients, is that the long-term effects are unknown. At low doses, GPL-1 has in some cases caused side effects such as vomiting or diarrhea. Studies in guinea pigs have shown an increase in thyroid cancer and pancreatitis. So further tweaking and testing is needed to make it 100% secure.

In general, until these drugs are available, it may be helpful to turn to the healthiest ways to lose weight: exercise, eating healthier, having a more balanced schedule, etc.

Canada will send its first rover to the moon

Canada has joined the ranks of countries that have already sent rovers to the moon and announced it will do so in 2026 through NASA and the Canadian Space Agency. The rover will weigh about 30 kilograms, and its mission will be to search for water in the form of ice at the south pole of our natural satellite.

According to Canadian officials, the rover will have five devices designed to collect data, all Canadian-made and one American. Another of its missions will be to analyze the chemical composition of the lunar regolith, depending on which it is easier to determine the presence of water.

One of the devices that the rover will be equipped with, LHANS (Lunar Hydrogen Autonomous Neutron Spectrometer), will perform the role of identifying hydrogen in the lunar soil, which is seen as a possible proof of the existence of water.

In principle, the Canadian lunar rover will be built in the same way as NASA’s Mars rover, even if it will weigh much less.

That was not mentioned in the Canadian statement, but it can be assumed that the joint Canadian-American mission is another step in the space race between China and the United States to establish the first permanent lunar base.
