
The damaged Russian shuttle has separated from the International Space Station (ISS) four months later and will burn up over the Pacific Ocean, DPA reports.
The Progress 82 cargo ship, which has been attached to the ISS structure since October, developed a leak that caused a drop in pressure in the cooling system.
In October, the shuttle delivered about three tons of food, fuel and supplies to the Russian cosmonauts on the ISS.
After separating from the ISS on Friday, cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmytro Petelin managed to photograph the damage to the cargo ship’s exterior, the American space agency NASA reported.
