Constantly putting things off is a sign that you may have serious health problems
Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today seems not only a wise proverb, but also a serious indicator that you may have some serious health problems. This is what some researchers from Sofiahammet University in Stockholm say in a study they published in the journal JAMA Network Open.
Briefly, people asked several Swedish university students (3,525 students) to fill out some forms every three months of the year. At the end, people analyzed the people who procrastinated the most in submitting forms.
They found that there is a strong link between procrastination and high levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and more. The longer these forms lingered, the worse the symptoms were. Cases of physical pain in hands and shoulders, sleep disturbances, etc. were also recorded.
What the researchers couldn’t figure out was whether it was procrastination that caused the symptoms mentioned, or whether it was the health problems that led to the procrastination. Of course, there is a close connection between them.
Swedish experts say they don’t yet have a test to prove that completing tasks on time can lead to a healthier life. But at the end of the day, you have nothing to lose if you tackle your problems instead of putting them off for… another time. Science and precision!
An Egyptian tomb, at least atypical, was excavated in Aswan
We will not tell you now, as many do, that the archaeologists were shocked by the discovery. Archaeologists are not so easily shocked, be calm! After all, the chances of encountering death in their work are enormous. If they were so weak-willed, they took up other work. But since this is where we wanted to go, the hearts of those we are talking about today almost jumped out of their chests when they saw what was revealed in an excavated ancient tomb on the west bank of the Nile, in Aswan.
More precisely, we are talking about 10 crocodiles of considerable size, so far the only ones. It is also true that animal mummies are not uncommon, even crocodile mummies. More than 300 crocodile mummies alone have been discovered. Only, as I said, something different this time.
In more than 90% of cases of crocodile mummification, these were young and very rarely adult specimens. Then the process of mummification was similar to that of humans. The animal was gutted, placed in a special substance based on salt, poured with resin and wrapped in woolen bandages.
This is not the case with the present discovery. Here, first of all, we are talking about massive specimens of crocodiles. The smallest is 1.8 meters long, and the largest is about four meters. Mummification was also unusual. It seems that the animals were left in the desert sand for natural mummification. And the strangest thing is that there are no traces either of their murder or even of their capture.
Usually, traces of the ropes with which such massive specimens were tied were supposed to remain on the fabric. Not Necessary. Experts say the animals could have been drowned, suffocated or somehow washed ashore and left to die in the sun. However, the reasons for such atypical mummification remain a mystery. As for the presence of giant crocodiles there, perhaps it is related to the cult of the god Sobek, so there is no better explanation at the moment.
A Martian meteorite discovered in Morocco is rich in organic compounds
The meteorite that crashed in Morocco on July 28, 2011, gave more than interesting details to the experts who analyzed it. Thus, in a study recently published in the journal Science Advances, the aforementioned researchers announced the discovery of at least five different organic compounds.
For example, scientists have identified molecules of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and others, all of which are present in life forms on Earth. Don’t get too excited, they can also appear in non-biological forms! Therefore, we cannot say that we have discovered traces of Martian life. Interestingly, however, the meteorite also contains large amounts of magnesium, a first among meteorites from Mars. Experts say it formed under very high pressure, deep in the Red Planet’s crust, which doesn’t give us much hope for life there, but could instead give us clues about what’s inside the planet.
As the researchers said, we don’t yet have proof of Martian life, but we’re fast getting closer to finding out whether or not it once existed.
