The “ghostly” light around our solar system remains unexplained
More than 200,000 images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and thousands of analyzes by an international team of researchers in the SKYSURF project have confirmed what astronomers have observed for a long time, namely that there is a source of light around our solar system. However, no one could explain its origin.
There are several possibilities, but none of them have been confirmed to date. The stars and galaxies near our solar system cannot explain what has become known as “ghost light.” The most common hypothesis suggests that a component of our solar system has not yet been discovered.
In particular, we are talking about tiny particles of dust and ice that come from comets and reflect sunlight. This residual light was reported along with the “wall of hydrogen” in the immediate vicinity of our solar system in 1992 by the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft. Later, in 2018, the New Horizons probe confirmed the data provided by the Voyager program.
Of course, experts do not yet have all the data to formulate a viable theory. And the SKYSURF program was created precisely to determine the source of this mysterious light.
Monsters that survived the greatest extinction of life in the history of the Earth
Several fossils found in the Karoo Basin in South Africa are a real coup for the greatest extinction of life, which occurred at the end of the Permian period 252 million years ago.
In short, 252 million years ago, the largest supervolcano recorded during the existence of complex life forms on Earth had been erupting continuously for somewhere between 200,000 and one million years in the territory of Siberia. The phenomenon, also known as the “Sea of Death”, led to a veritable chain reaction of catastrophic events that resulted in the extinction of more than 90% of the life forms that existed at the time.
Among them are the alpha predators of the end of the Permian, the so-called gorgonopsids, animals from the therapsids group, life forms that showed the early forms of mammals and, likewise, reptiles. The largest of them reached a weight of about 300 kilograms and a length of 3.5 meters, but smaller forms became common at the end of the Permian.
Well, gorgonopsids were one of the groups of animals that disappeared with the Dead Sea, especially since they were the top of the food chain at the time that was being destroyed by the aforementioned supervolcano.
The surprise discovery of three fossils in South Africa, specimens that still existed millions of years after the eruption of a Siberian supervolcano. In fact, the last gorgonopsids lived when the first dinosaurs were already developing in the Triassic, about 230 million years ago. It is true that these were specimens no larger than a fox, but despite this, their presence was, to put it mildly, one. So strange that the researchers had to redo the dating and analysis several times.
There is only one explanation for this. Namely, that the gorgonopsids still had enough prey to continue their existence, and the effects of the aforementioned supervolcano may have been a bit more difficult to understand than previously thought. Please, there could also be the option that the South African archaeologists got all the tests wrong, which would not be unusual, and therefore it would not be so difficult.
Potatoes do not deserve their bad reputation
As low-carb diets have gained popularity in recent years, regular potatoes are usually replaced by other types of vegetables in the daily diet. In fact, earlier studies have even shown that potato consumption has risks, such as developing type 2 diabetes.
A new study published in the specialized journal Diabetes Care refutes all these ideas. What’s more, he says, the much-maligned potato has no effect on the onset of type 2 diabetes and has no other negative effects.
In fact, it would simply be the way they are prepared. In particular, frying them or combining them with butter, red meat and carbonated drinks would be the real causes of health risks for those who consume them. In a word, the authors of the article suggest us to eat them in boiled form. They’re packed with fiber and vitamins that are healthier than you thought and will make you look like an Olympian. Please, if you want to be healthy and look good. That’s what the experts say.
