Those who believe in the paranormal tend to be easier to scare with a Covid vaccine

Since the start of the pandemic and subsequent public response to Covid vaccines, research and opinion polls have been conducted to see which categories of people tend to develop a greater degree of reluctance against them.

From the first data, it became obvious that people with strong religious views and conservatives show a high degree of mistrust of vaccines. However, sociologists from the University of West Virginia went further and drew attention to a group of people who believe in paranormal phenomena, so far ignored.

Scientists conducted a survey in which 1,734 participants were asked to answer several questions. Lest we forget, it turns out that people who believe in the existence of paranormal phenomena have an increased dislike for anything that means vaccines. More interestingly, this group is even more likely to avoid vaccination than religious or conservative people.

Well, what is the use of such information, which, frankly, many of us already guessed? Well, the authors of the study published in the journal Sociology of Religion also answer. Accordingly, let’s find out the origins of reluctance to vaccinate. Once the sources of fears are known, it will be easier to explain to people that they are in fact unfounded. Okay, now let’s see how they convince those who believe in ghosts and goblins that they should also have a scientific approach to the problem.

In the next 100 years, apocalyptic asteroids will not threaten us

The asteroid, between 330 and 740 meters in diameter, will fly past Earth on November 1 at 68 times the speed of sound, or 84,500 kilometers per hour. The asteroid, called 2022 RM4, will come within a maximum of 2.3 million kilometers of us, about six times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

Bottom line: nothing is happening to us, don’t panic, it’s just a Halloween prank by our solar system. Now, if it does come to that, NASA, the ones who also released information related to 2022RM4, tell us that after they launched the asteroid detection system in our solar system, ATLAS, more than 28,000 asteroids and 6 comets will approach. to Earth in the near future.

Moreover, NASA reassures us, at least in 100 years you won’t have to worry about the fate of the dinosaurs. However, following the success of the Americans in their mission to divert asteroid Dimorphis from its path, China announced that it was developing a similar program aimed at diverting another asteroid called Bennu. More precisely, the Chinese want to launch 23 Long March 2 rockets to hit the mentioned asteroid, which, by the way, has a diameter of about 490 meters.

We have failed with programs to reduce global warming.

If we are dealing with dangers from space, the same cannot be said for dangers here on the planet. In particular, despite all the proposals and measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, it is still not enough. Therefore, by the end of the century, global temperatures will rise by 2.1-2.9 degrees Celsius, which is what we wanted to avoid.

According to the Paris Convention of 2015, the temperature should not exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius. But, apparently, the efforts are not enough yet. The good part, experts say, is that there is still something we can do. The really bad part is that we will have to take urgent action before 2030, and the chances of that happening are pretty slim.

We don’t even want to scare you anymore, because the experts say you’re a little surprised at what global warming is about to do.

You will have to change your attitude towards insects

An international group of researchers is telling us that we need to change the way we think about insects. Stop looking at them as disgusting reptiles, thirsty for human blood, and as cute creatures that care about the environment!

Don’t even think about looking at them as a potential food source, as some of you have already seen, because without insects the future is not good at all. Leave them and eat something else! In fact, insect populations are in continuous decline, and this is only the second time in the history of life.

The first such moment occurred about 252 million years ago, during the largest extinction of life ever recorded, at the end of the Permian period. In particular, no other major extinction, not even the one that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs, affected insects.

The benefits of insects are enormous, say the authors of a study published in the journal Ecology and Evolution. Not only are they in perfect symbiosis with flora and fauna, but their disappearance would lead to incredible imbalances. Their protection, researchers say, must begin, first of all, with the education of the global population and with a radical change in attitude.

Ok, I got this one. It is beautiful, inspiring, even touching. But speaking of perfect symbiosis, what do we do if one of these nasty kitchen bugs appears in the house? Do we kiss him, feed him and talk to him, or do we let him put a shoe in his head? This was not mentioned in the study and would be interesting to know.
