Victor Wembanyama fined $25,000 for throwing ball into stands

At the end of the game, the French basketball player celebrated by throwing the ball to the audience. Normally, the league applies an automatic penalty for such a gesture.

Vembanyama spoke about this moment after the loss to the Golden State Warriors (113-117).

“I know that earlier players were fined for throwing the ball into the stands, but they did it with bad intentions. I just did it to make someone’s day better. It’s not that I’m trying to offend anyone” – Victor Vembanyama.

In the game with the Knicks, the 20-year-old player scored 40 points (career record), made 20 rebounds and 7 assists. It was Wembanyama’s 39th double-double in his first 65 games for the Spurs.

After the lost game with the Warriors, the Frenchman averaged 21.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 3.4 blocks and 1.3 steals.
