Fabrizio Romano announces that Xabi Alonso will stay at Bayer Leverkusen

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Xabi will decide to stay on the Aspirins bench for one more season.

After 26 played rounds of the 2023-2024 Bundesliga season, Bayer Leverkusen has 70 points with 22 wins and 4 draws.

Bayern Munich, favorites for the title every season, are ten points behind Xabi Alonso’s side.

Having spent his playing career at Real Sociedad, Eibar, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Alonso is one of the most popular managers at the moment.

Leverkusen are also involved in the Europa League, with the Germans facing West Ham United in the quarterfinals.

Alonso was on the shortlist of Bayern (he will replace Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season) and Liverpool (it is known that Jurgen Klopp will leave the Cormorants this summer).
